Music Scholarships for Students Studying Jazz!

WDNA Music Scholarship Promotion

For the tenth consecutive year WDNA will be giving away full music scholarships to deserving students studying jazz.

Scholarship winners will have the opportunity to attend the annualLitchfield Jazz Camp, in Connecticut, where they will be taught by some of the most respected musicians in the world and interact with instructors from some of the most prestigious colleges and institutions in the United States.

The scholarship winners will receive the following:

Round trip airfare from Miami to Connecticut Transfers to and from the airport Tuition and study materials Room and board Camp t-shirt WDNA merchandise (Jazz CDs, clothing, etc.)Sponsor gift certificates Opportunity to perform at 2016 Litchfield Jazz Festival

Contest Methodology

All high school and college students, 13-years and older, are eligible to compete for the scholarships!

Students must register for one of two preliminary auditions by 5:00pm, April 1, 2016.Students should the WDNA office at 305-662-8889 to register.

Two preliminary auditions will be held:

Saturday, April 2, 11:00am, in the WDNA Jazz Gallery – 2921 Coral Way, Miami, FL 33145

Sunday, April 3, 4:00pm, at The Fish House – 10000 Miller Drive, Miami, FL 33165

Six (6) finalists will be selected from each of the two preliminary auditions by a panel of jazz experts. The final playoff among the twelve (12) finalists will be held Sunday, April 17th, at 6 pm in the WDNA Jazz Gallery.

Contest rules will be provided in advance of the auditions and the three students with the highest cumulative scores during the finals will be awarded a full scholarship to the 2016 Litchfield Jazz Camp & Festival.

About the Litchfield Jazz Camp

Directed by Mr. Don Braden, who a renowned saxophonist, flutist, composer, arranger, and producer, the Litchfield Jazz Camp & Festival is now in its 20th year, and boasts an impressive list of instructors who are regarded as some the world’s most revered professionals. With instructional specialization for a wide array of instruments, students are afforded the opportunity to learn from the masters in a unique setting and many of the camp’s alumni have gone on to successful careers. Some students attending the camp are also eligible to perform at the annual Litchfield Jazz Festival.
