Aside from his long-term career as a private sector and local government businessman, Frank Rivera's true love has been music. Growing up in New York City, Frank honed his appreciation for music by way of the varied musical venues which New York offered: The Village Gate, the Blue Note, as well as the Cafe Wha, where he witnessed a performance by a young guitarist named Jimmy Hendrix, whom he 'knew' wouldn't make it in the real world. So much for recognizing talent. Among the people he called friends, were Tito Puente, and his wife Margie. He was also acquainted with Mongo Santamaria, who along with Tito Puente, lived in the same Upper West Side neighborhood he did. Frank's musical tastes range from classical music to straight-ahead jazz, to Latin jazz and of course, Salsa.
