Carla Cook Live in Concert!

Friday, January 19th, 7:30pm

Friday, January 19th, 7:30pm

Acclaimed vocalist, Carla Cook is renowned as one of the most polished practitioners in the jazz arena. Her earthy sophisticated delivery is continuous confirmation that she's among the very best the industry have ever had. Although not usually placed on the same plateau as other female icons such as Ella, Sarah, and Billie, Carla Cook is within range and exudes all the sensibilities of the greats.

Carla is an accomplished artist who played piano and bass and sang with the famous Lionel Hampton Orchestra. She's a disciple of the great Eddie Johnson and an educator who taught jazz in Switzerland and Germany, among others places. She's performed with a myriad of jazz greats including close friends Regina Carter, Cyrus Chestnut and Eric Reid. She's a Grammy nominee and won the AFIM Indie Award for "Best Jazz Vocal," in 2000.

For this Fine Arts Concert, Carla will be accompanied Chuck Bergeron on bass, Martin Bejerano on piano, Marcus Grant on drums, and special guest Miguel Russell on congas.
